Washington's Crossing Park

On May 21st we took a little day trip to Washington's Crossing Park. The park is located around the area where George Washington and the American Army crossed the Delaware River in the middle of a blizzard on Christmas Day to defeat the German's that were stationed in Trenton, NJ. Washington and the Army later marched on to take Princeton as well. It was really neat to see such an amazing part of history. These victories by the Americans were two of the main reasons that the French decided to side with and assist the Americans in their cause. The park spans both the Pennsylvania and New Jersey sides of the Delaware River. The weather tried to run us off a few times but we were able to enjoy a nice break from the city.

Eric & T throwing rocks in the New Jersey side of the Delaware.

T & Mommy on the Pennsylvania side of the park.

Tayeson and Daddy out on the tiny little bridge that spans the Delaware.

As soon as we got to the middle of the bridge the clouds quickly rolled in and dumped rain on us.

I love these little hands. They're always dirty or full of rocks.

T found a great walking stick in the park.

I think he realized that using a walking stick was way more work than it was worth but he was not about to relinquish it. He carried it the rest of the way to the pond. Only when it started pouring rain again did he abandon it and sprint for the car.
